We are looking to recruit a confident, approachable and well organised Receptionist. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for parents, pupils and all visitors to the school both face to face and on the telephone.

Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Booker Park Primary School is a special school which caters for children with a broad diversity of complex needs including Profound and Multiple, Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition. The school reception is the hub of the school, providing a warm, friendly welcome, promoting the feeling of safety and well-being to all our visitors. Reporting to the HR and Office Manager, the successful applicant will be the first point of reference for telephone enquiries, parents/carers and all other visitors. The successful candidate will be required to provide two satisfactory references, undertake pre-employment checks including a health check and have a cleared Enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
The successful candidate will be juggling the demands of a busy reception desk, including answering all incoming calls and directing as necessary, welcoming visitors, signing them in using the electronic visitors’ entry system, produce visitors’ passes and check and record ID as necessary. They will have responsibility for bringing together articles for the School Newsletter and updating contact lists. Other duties will include typing letters to parents, sorting daily incoming post and the prompt checking and distribution of deliveries, all of which contribute to the smooth running of the school office. External and internal training is provided as appropriate to the role and continued professional development of our staff is encouraged.
In order to carry out this role you will need strong communication skills and be able to record and give accurate information in a clear, concise manner. You will have a friendly, easy going personality whilst maintaining a professional approach to your work. Having a disciplined and unflustered nature and being able to multi-task is essential. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a similar role, being part of a team as well as being able to work independently. You will need experience of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel and having an artistic flair may be a benefit. Although experience of using SIMS is desirable training will be given to the right candidate. You will be able to interact appropriately with the school community including parents, staff and children who visit reception on a daily basis. The ability to travel to our other sites would also be an advantage.
