Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Booker Park School is large primary special school of 228 pupils which caters for children with a broad diversity of complex needs including Profound and Multiple, Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition. The successful candidate will be required to provide two satisfactory references, undertake pre-employment checks including a health check and have a cleared Enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
Working under the instruction/guidance of teaching and senior class staff this rewarding and sometimes challenging role will include supporting pupils to access and engage with teacher led curriculum/learning activities, encouraging them to interact with others and helping to promote their self-esteem. You will assist with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans and personal care which may include attending to hygiene needs and administering medication. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. Comprehensive training is provided as appropriate to the role and continued professional development of our staff is encouraged.
In order to carry out this role you will enjoy working with pupils who have special educational needs, have an appreciation of the positive attitudes required to encourage independence in our pupils together with high expectations and respect towards them.
